Château Fontpinot XO100th anniversary

Single Family Estate
100 % Grande Champagne - Premier Cru de cognac

1923 – 2023
Frapin is celebrating a century of
Fontpinot Cognac. Along with
celebrating 100 years of timeless tastings.

Created by Pierre Frapin 100 years ago, Fontpinot cognac has always been a delight to demanding epicureans. As opposed to a ubiquitous passion for planning, roots of the pleasure of tasting continue to work serenely and unstoppably at Frapin. To celebrate the centenary, Cognac Frapin is publishing a limited-edition anniversary packaging. Inspired by the original version, the label brings up to date the symbols of ownership and the colours popular during the Roaring twenties. The bottle is presented in a rough wooden box inspired by the straw-lined crates used at the time.

A COGNAC EMBLEMATIC OF THE FRAPIN SPIRIT

At Fontpinot, time has stood still under the rooftops, following the undulation of the barrels in rhythm aligned with the warped wooden floors. In summer, a fragrant heat permeates the attics: freshy scents of fruit and wood, spicy scents of dried flowers. The typical olfactory world of dry cellars where, under the effect of intense evaporation, the aromas of cognac concentrate and
refine. It is here, in the attics of the estate, that the eaux-de-vie that will give Château Fontpinot cognac its elegance, nesse and aromatic richness are aged.

A EXCEPTIONNAL COGNAC

In Cognac, the “château” appellation is distinguished by its rarity. In order to use it, the entire process (vineyard work, vinification, distillation, aging, bottling) must be carried out on the estate itself. In Grande Champagne, Cognac Frapin is the only house to have such heritage: a 240-hectare vineyard in one plot, 100% Premier Cru, surrounding an 18th century castle and its annexes. Since 1923, the blending of very old reserves of the Château has renewed an exceptional cognac by its title, its origins, and the unalterable emotion that its taste brings.

COULOR & BOUQUET

Silky and warm, the colour is copper toned with golden
highlights. A deep and sensual colour that opens the tasting.

A subtle bouquet unfolds to the point of balance. An evanescent
oral note gives way to a basket of autumn fruits on a blond,
patinated wood.

PALATE

A complex bouquet, of a rare nesse, enchants the palate. Notes of candied fruit, dried apricot, almond and hazelnut unfold. As the tasting progresses, the aromas melt away, timeless and warm, later supported by the smoky note of “rancio”, characteristic of very old cognacs. Fully generous, signature of the house, an exceptional length in mouth prolongs the pleasure.

Tasting tips :

Add a drop of water to Château Fontpinot XO to let the aromas
breathe and soften the power of the cognac.

“To appreciate Château Fontpinot XO, you have to be a gourmet. This cognac enchants the dessert with its fruity flavours, and gives character to those who love the simple pleasures of a cheese platter.”
Patrice Piveteau, Cellar Master
